Welcome to NEW INDIA DIGEST (NID), a non-commercial venture of the INDIA DIGEST FOUNDATION, an independent non-profit trust registered in Pune, India.

For the last fifteen years, it has tried to:

increase awareness of the more positive developments in India today in different areas

focus on the lives and achievements of outstanding Indians in order to motivate the younger generation to higher levels of excellence

NID ON-LINE

To begin with we are reproducing some of the best articles that have appeared exclusively in the pages of the journal since it commenced publication in 1987.

It is appropriate that we begin this series by bringing on-line a three-part article on Dr. A. P. J. Kalam, who was sworn in as President of India on July 25, 2002. These articles first appeared in New India Digest in 1998-99.
